The Annual General Meeting for INCOSE Denmark will be held 3rd of September 2020, 15:00 - 17:00 at the Scandic Eremitage, Klampenborgvej 230, Lyngby Storcenter, Kgs. Lyngby. Virtual participation in the meeting using Zoom is also possible, you will however not be able to vote using Zoom.

Registration for physical attendance at Scandic no later than September 2nd
Virtual participation via Zoom does not require registration!

After the General Meeting there will be a coffee break with ample time for networking with all the participants.

We will finish the afternoon with a presentation by Henrik Balslev (see abstract at the end):

The event is open for all, free of charge but only members of INCOSE Denmark are able to vote on the General Meeting. Be sure to renew your membership if you are due to renew to ensure your vote will count.

Election of Officers and Directors

According to the bylaws the members of the Board of Directors are elected for a two-year period with half of the members elected one year, the other half the next year. The positions currently held by the following members are open for election:

Update of Bylaws

The current version of the INCOSE Denmark bylaws does not specify who has the power to bind for INCOSE Denmark. As a result of this the whole Board of Directors must sign every time the power to bind is needed. To make this easier in the daily operation of INCOSE Denmark it is suggested to specify in the bylaws that both the President and the Treasurer for INCOSE Denmark has the power to bind, and the power to bind is tied to the position not the person.

It is therefore recommended that the following amendment is made to the Bylaws of INCOSE Denmark. In Section 6. BOARD OF DIRECTORS, add the following:

“The President and the Treasurer individually have the power to bind for INCOSE Denmark”.

It will be possible to vote by proxy for the change of Bylaws, more information will follow on how to do this.

Creating a common language for modelling systems at Airbus
– and how to create awareness and momentum for it to become a success!

Systems Engineering A/S have asked for and got special permission from Airbus to share the brief of the DDMS modeling language, the IT support tools, and some of the secrets they have used to make it a success for Airbus at the annual general meeting in INCOSE Denmark 2020. Therefore, this is a one-time-only chance to get a unique view of the future in digitalization at Airbus presented by CEO and specialist Henrik Balslev from Systems Engineering A/S.

The European manufacturer of civil aircrafts, Airbus with headquarters in Toulouse, are in the process of establishing a digital transformation of all information needed in the process of analyzing, investigating, designing, producing, and testing civil aircrafts. The project is called DDMS – Digital Design, Manufacturing and Services.
The ambitions of using traditional model-based systems engineering was at an early stage considered by Airbus, however they also realized that billions of elements and their interconnections in such a model had to be handled in a model was not an option for any present systems engineering modeling language.

Furthermore, both IT tools and easy human interpretation at the same time needed attention. The need for a basic common language was evident. By chance, giving a presentation at the annual INCOSE symposium in Las Vegas in 2014, we had the opportunity to introduce engineers from Airbus DDMS program to the ISO/IEC 81346 standard series. This international standard has been our constant companion for more than 20 years and we are deeply involved in many facets of it. The standard defines a Reference Designation System (RDS), which is used as a common language to designate (i.e. define and label) systems and their elements, and how to view them in a multiple, yet uniform, way.
In 2017, our company Systems Engineering A/S was hired by Airbus to redefine all systems in a civil aircraft and form the designations based on RDS for it. This step turned out to be the first major step towards a common understanding and language among all disciplines of how to perceive an aircraft as a system composed by system elements.

As interest and understanding of the RDS for Aircrafts (RDS-A/C) grew in Airbus, as well as the effort to make it very simple at the same time, Airbus also applied our system integration principles based on RDS-A/C. Furthermore, Airbus asked for additions to RDS to handle the manufacturing processes, the dependencies to the systems produced and, as the project developed, more or less all systems who needed a representation in the DDMS modelling.
During the development of the common language RDS-A/C, we were completely aware that we also had to work on the communication of the result to create momentum and request for usage of the method for our client. A great product or method, no matter how good it is, is worthless if nobody wants to use it. We are happy to realize that the effort we have made in close cooperation with key staff at Airbus has led to the conclusion that the common language is the model based systems engineering language they have been waiting for, and have started working to implement at a large scale. Airbus sees this as their common language basis to create model-based systems engineering.
