Leveraging Systems Engineering to Improve Product Development

Many projects and programs fall short of meeting their intended goals. Studies of the root causes of this shortfall suggest that tension between project management and systems engineering can contribute to poor project performance. An initiative between INCOSE and PMI has been formed to further investigate this situation.

Cecilia Haskins ESEP has been following this work and combining it with over 40 years of personal experience in industry and academia. In this tutorial she presents the top 5 opportunities for collaboration between these disciplines in product development. The tutorial will encourage participants to draw on their personal observations and consider concrete actions applicable to their own work environments.

Ample time for group interaction and networking is built into the schedule.

Topics covered include a brief executive summary of the INCOSE-PMI survey from 2013, a presentation of acquisition lessons learned, a very brief introduction to the ISO/IEC 15288:2008 standard for Systems Engineering, and conclude with creation of individual action plans for introducing opportunities for SE-PM collaboration on a project.

The event will be held in room S09 located in DTU Meeting Center.

Register for this event no later than 27th February by clicking the "Register" button above.
Registration fee is 500 DKK. Members of INCOSE Denmark receives a 50% discount.

Note that this tutorial is also being held in Aarhus on March 5, 2014.
